The first thing we would like you to know about us, the two co-founders, is that we are engineers. Dr. Ken Williams and Dr. Dale Snider have been closely involved with CFD since its beginnings, for over 30 years. As engineers we have developed a special tool to solve special problems. That tool is our Barracuda software package. The problems are the complex 3-D flows, thermal and chemical reactions phenomena associated with fluid-particle flows in commercial fluidization units. We understand both the technical challenges and enormous financial consequences of making design decisions on commercial units such as ‘cat crackers,’ chemical reactors or power plants. Our mission is to give you special engineering simulation technology to make those tough decisions with confidence.
CPFD Software, LLC is recognized as a global technology pioneer having successfully commercialized its unique engineering software across international automotive, chemical, petrochemical and power generation industries. Headquartered in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the company develops and distributes computer-aided-engineering (CAE) software exclusively for industrial applications that require a heavily laden particle flow field using its breakthrough technology, computational-particle-fluid-dynamics, or CPFD®. An array of industrial processes employ such particle flows to achieve chemical reactions, or to transfer heat in order to manufacture gasoline, hydrogen, nylon, and white pigment (TiO2), to convert biomass and coal into fuels, and even to enable high-volume runs of ultra-pure Silicon for photovoltaic solar power.
New technologies striving to create renewable energy and cleaner fuels can benefit greatly from this software, both in the research and maintenance of developing or untested methods. Currently, CPFD software is employed by major automotive and transportation manufacturers, as well as by major chemical and petrochemical companies worldwide.
